Invisalign in Whitestone With Dr. Eleni
The Importance of Having an Orthodontist Do Invisalign in Whitestone.
For many years the need for dental alignment meant a long and arduous journey with metal braces that included brackets and wires. Recent technological advances have increased the available treatment options to include modalities such as Invisalign, an advanced method of dental realignment that provides amazing results with ease. Patients are able to have beautiful smiles with the help of orthodontists, Dr. Eleni Michailidis and Dr. Abraham Chahine of Avenue Orthodontics.
What is Invisalign?
Unlike traditional or lingual braces that utilize brackets and wires to make gradual adjustments to the position of the teeth, Invisalign uses a series of clear trays that are worn throughout the day. These clear aligners are virtually invisible and allow individuals to make alignment adjustments comfortably without the restrictions of traditional braces.
Are Invisalign clear aligners right for me?
Clear aligners are ideal for anyone who would like to improve the alignment of their teeth with more discretion and without committing to wearing braces. The aligners are easy to use and are great for teens, adults, and those who prefer to avoid the wires and brackets typically associated with braces. Invisalign allows patients to enjoy their favorite foods, to participate in contact sports, and to brush and floss with ease.
Although recent advances in Invisalign technology allow for the treatment of more complex orthodontic cases, some individuals are not ideal Invisalign candidates and would be better treated using traditional braces. During your complimentary consultation at Avenue Orthodontics, Dr. Eleni Michailidis or Dr. Abraham Chahine will determine if Invisalign clear aligner trays are the right treatment option to address your specific orthodontic needs.
Why is it important to turn to an orthodontist for Invisalign?
In addition to completing the standard four-year doctorate of dentistry program and finishing at the top of the class, an orthodontist needs to also complete an extra 2 to 3 years of intensive training to be considered a specialist in orthodontics. This additional training concentrates specifically on the science and clinical application of orthodontic principles to achieve proper dental alignment and a healthy occlusion. Whereas general dental training focuses very little on orthodontics, a specialist in this field spends a large amount of time learning and perfecting their orthodontic skills in the clinical setting whether their patients opt for Invisalign or traditional braces.
Dr. Eleni and Dr. Abraham both received their doctorates from Columbia University before completing their advanced training in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics. They provide individualized care to each of their patients in the Bayside, Flushing, Douglaston, Little Neck, and other Queens neighborhoods, as well as to the surrounding New York City areas. Patients who come to their Whitestone location are able to experience the highest quality orthodontics from these well-trained and compassionate doctors.
How do I get Invisalign clear aligners?
After a complimentary consultation, Dr. Eleni or Dr. Abraham will create a 3D model of your teeth in their current state which is used to create an individualized treatment plan to address your specific orthodontic concerns. The aligners are fabricated by a lab, delivered to our office, and are ready to be worn at least 22 hours per day. They need to be removed during meals and while brushing and flossing. Patients are provided with a series of aligner trays that are worn for a specific amount of time before moving on to the next tray. Treatment lengths vary depending on your needs, but typically range between 6 to 24 months and can be combined with AcceleDent® for even faster results.
